Background:
The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) is an international household survey programme
developed and supported by UNICEF. MICS is designed to collect estimates of key indicators that
are used to assess the situation of children and women.
The 2023 Lebanon MICS will be implemented using CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal
Interviewing) in which the interviewer uses a tablet to record data. CAPI data collection can reduce
the time needed to collect and process survey data, facilitate real time monitoring, improve the quality
of the data and reduce survey costs. In specific locations, the 2023 Lebanon MICS will be
implemented using PAPI (Paper-Assisted Personal Interviewing).
Purpose:
Candidates are encouraged to apply for an open call of survey fieldworkers including supervisors, field editors, data collectors, and measurers. Candidates will be selected and assigned to the most suitable role based on qualifications and assessment.
All candidates must:
- Know how to read and write in Arabic and able to communicate in the locale accent
- Minimum a Lebanese Baccalaureate Part II or its equivalent to read and write fluently and count accurately.
- Field experience in household surveys or data collection.
- Physically able to walk long distances and carry the equipment
- Be able to work full time and during the entire period
It is an added value, if candidates
- Experience in similar work with the Central Administration of Statistics
- Read and write in English
Data collectors (interviewers, measures, and listers)
Tasks:
- Receive maps, list of households in the sample, questionnaires, field manual and other forms from the supervisor to guide the work;
- Collect the data as directed by the supervisor
- Check the completion of the data before leaving;
- Complete the appropriate coding as needed;
- Return questionnaires, maps and other forms completed to the responsible supervisor
- Attend the training needed for the MICS
- Perform all other tasks assigned by the survey manager;
Supervisors (includes field editors)
Requirements:
- Minimum a university degree in arts or sciences. A degree in social sciences, business administration or law is an added value.
- Previous field experience in household surveys. Experience in similar work with the Central
- Administration of Statistics is an added value.
- Good knowledge in MS Office (word, excel and power point)
- Fluent in Arabic language verbally and in writing. English is an added value
Tasks:
- He/she will receive maps, lists of sampled households, questionnaires, and other forms from the coordinator at CAS;
- He/she will deliver and distribute fairly those documents on his/her team of interviewers;
- He/she will help interviewer locate sampled enumeration areas (ilots) and households;
- If needed, He/she will visit designated households with interviewers to supervise and/or help the interviewer to accomplish her tasks;
- He/she will check the quality of the data collected by the interviewer by revisiting a subset of sampled households, identified by CAS;
- He/she will check the quality of the completed questionnaires (filed in, coded when needed…) before delivering them back to CAS;
- xHe/she will return completed questionnaires, maps and other forms to the coordinator at CAS on schedule and as directed by CAS;
- On CAS’s request he/she should attend any meetings with CAS representative;
- He/she will prepare daily reports about fieldworkers’ status and share those with CAS
- He/she will prepare periodic reports about fieldwork status, such as
– Number of started interviews by interviewer and enumeration area,
– Number of completed questionnaires for each interviewer and enumeration area
– Number of incomplete questionnaires explaining the reasons for each…
– He/she will execute all other tasks given to him/her by the survey coordinator at CAS
